How To Detox Your Body For Better Health

How To Detox Your Body For Better Health

By Sandy Halliday
It is a must to detox your body these days. A detox program enables you to cleanse your body of harmful chemicals that build up and result in many different diseases. Cancer, Parkinson’s Disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, lung disease, kidney problems, and fatty liver deposits are just a few of the conditions that have been blamed on toxins.
Harmful toxins come from our environment – pollutants from the air we breathe, the water we drink and the products we apply to our skin.  The food we eat is also a source of toxins, like the pesticides that are used in the vegetables and the hormones, antibiotics and other medicines that are injected in the meat and poultry. These are just some of the sources of harmful toxins that enter our bodies.
Although your body has its own detoxification system it cannot cope with the amount of chemicals that we are bombarded with every day. This is a major reason why it is a good idea to take steps to detox your body, to get rid of these harmful substances and eventually optimize your health and well being.
To detox your body, it is important remember that the goal is to help the body in its natural function to detoxify and eliminate toxins via the bowel, the urine and sweat. Planning to detox your body will mean undergoing a special diet regimen that will help support the detox organs.
This diet should include:

  • High fiber – fiber provides bulk in the stools, prevents constipation and promotes regular bowel movements. Dietary fiber helps to prevent diabetes, lowers blood cholesterol and risk of heart disease. It also gets rid of harmful toxins which cause colon cancer.

  • Organically grown fresh fruits and vegetables

  • Foods which are rich in vitamins and minerals that are needed for detoxification and a great source of antioxidants that acts as the body’s cleansing agent.

  • Increased consumption of clean pure water to help the kidneys flush out toxins.
The ideal way to detox your body is to start avoiding sugar, processed foods, junk food, fatty food, red meat and alcohol. You should also gradually reduce coffee if you drink a lot of it and replace with herbal teas, green or white tea and pure water.
At the same time you should increase your intake of fresh fruit, vegetables, salads, whole grains, beans and lentils. Then, you can start a week of more intensive detox. Eating abundantly foods that are fresh and organically grown, consume lots of fluid, and avoid eating processed food.
Contrary to what you may think you don’t have to starve yourself or eat unusual foods when you detox your body. Simply changing the way you eat will give your detox system a chance to work better.

Brain Excellence Comes From Training Just As Physical Excellence Does
By Suzanne Holman

Not only does a twenty-six-year-old graduate student at the University of Miami have a fabulous memory due to lots of effort in developing it, he is training to climb Mt Everest next year.

Nelson Dellis won the 13th Annual USA Memory Championship held March 12, 2011 in NYC with fifty mental athletes competing. None of the competitors claim to have super memory talents, but claim that it is just from regular mental exercise.

We’ve heard the term photographic memory, often confused with the phenomenon called eidetic memory. There is no such thing as truly photographic memory. Eidetic memory does actually occur in 2 – 15 percent of children and rarely occurs in adults.

An eidetic image is an afterimage that lingers in the mind’s eye for up to a few minutes before it fades away. Children who do have eidetic memory do not have even nearly perfect recall. What they visualize is typically not nearly detailed as a body of text.

It’s just all about practice and determination for these contestants.

Ronnie White, the winner in the memorization of two decks of cards, said he has a person in mind to pair with every playing card in the deck. To memorize anything you really need that picture in your mind.

To prepare for the championship, contenders go into serious training even changing their eating and living habits. Dellis said he stopped drinking alcohol three months prior to the competition and started eating blueberries and taking omega 3′s every day.

Nelson Dellis also broke the record for number memorization, remembering the first hundred and seventy-eight digits of a randomly generated five-hundred-digit number, with just five minutes to study it. Dellis uses memorization techniques giving cards and numbers associations he can visualize-the name of a famous person, an action, an object.

One of the tasks was to memorize playing cards in order and be able to remember that order. There are a number of different brain exercises where we can use ordinary playing cards. You can sort them by suits or numbers and work at increasing your speed. Just doing the memorization as Dellis did is a great exercise for your brain. The associations you create in order to recall certain cards form new neuropathways in your brain.

Nelson’s grandmother died of Alzheimer’s disease and the climb up Mt. Everest will earn money for research to help find a cure for this widespread disease. It was difficult for him to experience seeing his grandmother go through such drastic changes. He decided he wanted to make a difference in conquering this disease.

USA Memory Championship chairman and founder Tony Dottino, chairman and founder of the USA Memory Championship says that anyone who has the determination can have a good memory.

Nelson Dellis certainly has shown his determination with not only the mental training for this championship, but also with taking on the challenge of hiking Mt. Everest!

Be a Good Listener

If you want to be a good communicator you must be a good listener.  A good listener looks at the person talking.   She does not think about a dozen other things that needs to be done.  If you want to connect with your children, your husband, or co worker stop, look, and listen.  Try it.  It will make a difference.  It is hard though.  At least it has been for me.  My mind keeps wandering and I have to bring it back.
Have a great day!

Disposable Apron Review

I received a package of disposable bib aprons for review from Champain Plastics.  I was excited to get them.  I work in a juvenile detention center in the kitchen.  We are allowed 5 cloth aprons each.  We take them home and bleach them but it is very hard to keep them clean.  The owner of Champagne Plastics kindly sent  me the aprons to try.  I opened the package and tried one of the aprons on.  They look nice and they are roomy.  They have ties so you can tie them around your waist.  The ties are more than long enough for any size person.
I don't know if any of you use aprons but these are so nice.  You can use them at home, church dinners, family gatherings, etc.

The company is located in Champaign, IL.  They also sell hats, face masks, gloves, beard covers, lab coats, and several other items.  If you are interested in their products, you can email them at products@champaingplastics.com.  Or you can call toll free at

1-800-575-0170.  I looked through their catalog and the prices are very reasonable.

Effective Communication

Hello
I have not been able to write for sometime.  I have a different schedule and don't get to post very often.  I am taking a course online about communicating.  It is something I need to work on.

One of the main things it says is that when you talk and communicate with others you need to be respectful.  I had not thought about this being so important.  After thinking it over, I realized I was not always respectful: especially, when I am tired or upset.  I am going to try and work on this.  I hope to see some improved relationships because of this.  I will let you know how it works out.  Have a great day!

John 3:16 Ad Banned During SuperBowl

I found this interesting blog post on New American.  It tells about the ad that the Fox 13 would not allow to be shown.  The ad gave a short upbeat message:  look up John3:16.  It is not offensive in any way but they refuse to let it be shown.
Something has happened to our free speach.

How to Make the Best New Year's Resolutions List | eHow.com

This is a good article. How to Make the Best New Year's Resolutions List eHow.com

5 Tips to Keeping Resolutions

Below is an article I found that is perfect for Ringing in the New Year.  It shares some helpful tips on planning and keeping your resolutions and goals.

Planning is key to keeping resolutions.    Most people have made New Year's resolutions at some point in their lives with varying degrees of success.  The secret to making and keeping a New Year's resolution is to start thinking about it before New Year's Eve.
  1. Be Realistic.  The surest way to fall short of your goal is for it to be unrealistic.  Resolving to never eat your favorite food again is a set up for failure.  Set a goal that is attainable, such as avoiding that food more often than you do now.  If your resolution is something like losing weight, do some research to see what a realistic, attainable goal would be.
  2. Choose wisely.  Don't decide on a resolution at the last minute on New Year's Eve.  It may help to make a list of possible resolutions and develop this list over time.  Keep it with you and ask others to contribute ideas.  You should know what your goal is well before Decebmer 31st arrives.
  3. Create a Plan.  To be successful it helps to have clear steps to put into action.   Write your resolution and plan down in a notebook or journal.  Decide how you will deal with the temptation to backslide.  This could include calling a friend for support, taking a walk around the block or simply thinking  positively.  Start your plan during the first few days of January to harness your motivation.  Don't expect overnight miracles.  Resolutions are accomplished with a hundred tiny steps that happen throughout the year.  You should think of a New Year's resolution as  nothing more than a starting point and that developing positive habits will keep your plan moving forward.
  4. Talk About It.  Tell friends and family members who will be there to support your resolve to change yourself for the better.  The best case scenario is to find a friend or family member who has also made a New Year's resolution and agree to motivate each other.
  5. Remain Flexible.  Obsessing over the occasional slip won't help you achieve your goal.  Do the best you can each day and keep moving forward.  Expect that you can and will change.  Sometimes even the goal itself will change.  But most importantly, recognize partial successes at every step along the way.  Experts say it takes about 21 days for a new activity, such as exercising, to become a habit and six months for it to become part of your personality.  Give it time and your new habits are sure to become second nature.

Have A Blessed Christmas

Hello
I hope everyone of my readers have a blessed Christmas this year.  I hope you and your family have God's blessings and peace on you.
Merry Christmas!

Touching Christmas Story "Little Star" by Anthony Destefano

Little Star by Anthony DeStefano is a beautiful story about Christmas.  It is illustrated by Mark Elliott and is so beautiful.  The cover and the pictures in the book are perfect to hold a little one's attention.

The story is about a star that is littler than the others and the problems he has because of his size.  It helps children to see that no matter how small or different a person might be, they are still loved.  It tells the true story of Christmas in a fiction format.  It has a Bible verse at the end.  I loved the book from the beginning to the end.

I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.

Outlive Your Life by Max Lucado Book Review

Don't waste your life. Read Max Lucado's book "Outlive Your Life. I picked up this book and started reading. It was just the book I needed to give me a little kick in the pants. It reminded me that my life needs to be more than about me. I had been thinking about what my legacy would be. What would my children and grandchildren think about me when I was gone. How would their lives be improved because I had been on earth.

What do we do when we see someone in need? Mr. Lucado talks aboout the shell we have around us. It keeps us from seeing and feeling the needs of others.

He also talks about the discarded people. Some of them are discarded by the church. Are we going to discard them also? Are we going to walk past the hurting people like the pharisees of Bible times? Or will we be the good Samaritan that takes the time to see what needs to be done and then do it? I hope that I would be like the good Samaritan.

Max Lucado has a way of putting Bible truths into word pictures that are easy to understand. And he has also given all royalties from this book to help others.

I was given a copy of this book to read and review by http:www/booksneeze.com. I was told to give an honest review and that is what I have done.
