True Love

                                                                                       photo by morguefile.com

4 "Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 Charity never faileth 1Corinthians 13:4-8a

The word charity in this passage means love.  This teaches us what true love is.  It is not always easy.  It is worth working towards and practicing in our lives.

What If We Treated Every Day As Christmas Day

photo by morguefile.com

What if we treated everyday like it was Christmas day?  What would our days be like?  What would our relationships be like?

Would they be better than they are now?  Would we have a better attitude about things?

This is just some thoughts I had today.  I love being able to do little things for people at Christmas.  I am not able to do what other people can do but I can do what I have the ability to do.

What if I did these same little things that I do at Christmastime all year round?  How would that change my little world?

I think someone that was hurting would be blessed.  I think someone would feel a little more loved.

Maybe we could all work on this idea.   Maybe it would become a new fad.  Wouldn't that be great?

What do you think?

Love Is A Guiding Light

"All things work by love."

"At the heart of the scientist's quest for a "theory of all things" they will find that love is the energy that allows the universe to exist."

These quotes are from the book, "The Prayer of Love".  It takes me a long time to finish a book.  This book is one that has helped me to understand things.  The theme of the book is to practice love in every situation.

Practicing love in our own situation is not always easy.  In fact, it takes extreme courage at times.  Love does not always feel fuzzy wuzzy.  Tough love is hard to do but sometimes it is necessary.

When others don't treat us with love it is hard to show love to them.  But God requires that we do that doesn't he?

Thinking about how we hurt others without even meaning to can help to overlook the hurt caused by our friends or family.

Bear Ye One Another's Burdens

"Bear ye one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ."  Galatians 6:2

Dear Father,
Help me to see the burdens others are carrying.  Give me the desire and the discernment to reach out to others and lift their burden.  Help me to do this in love for the law of Christ is love.
In Jesus name,
Amen

Let us look around us and see others.  What can we do to help?  Sometimes it will be a kind word or a smile.  Other times it may be baking a cake or caring for someone's children.  What does love look like?  The law of Christ is love.  We are to love others as He has loved us.
